Washer geometry, hardness, spring condition or bendability must be specified separately from alloy name. Bolt and nut strength classes are not washer grades. Spring/tooth response requires the specified material condition and geometry.
Technical Selection & Standard Reference
DIN 6797 is a withdrawn legacy reference for toothed lock washers. Commercial Form A is externally toothed and Form I is internally toothed; specify the actual form and drawing.
Teeth can mark coatings or soft seating surfaces. Neither vibration locking nor electrical bonding performance is established by the name alone.
A family reference is not a certificate for a supplied item. Legacy commercial references require agreement on the actual drawing and contractual specification.
Application Areas
Equipment panels, brackets and contact-sensitive assemblies where tooth engagement is specified.
For oil & gas, pharma, dairy or construction enquiries, specify the actual load, environment, temperature, contact-surface and approval requirements. Sector names alone do not establish suitability.

Does a star washer automatically establish electrical grounding?
No. Contact resistance, finish, corrosion and the complete bonding assembly require appropriate validation. Specify the electrical and mechanical requirements separately.
