Washer geometry, hardness, spring condition or bendability must be specified separately from alloy name. Bolt and nut strength classes are not washer grades.
Technical Selection & Standard Reference
ISO 7089 covers normal-series plain washers of product grade A. DIN 125-1 is a withdrawn legacy reference; specify the exact profile and edition rather than assuming all flat washers are identical.
A material name such as SS 304 or SS 316 does not establish a specified HV hardness. Match the bearing area and hardness requirement to the joint design.
A family reference is not a certificate for a supplied item. Legacy commercial references require agreement on the actual drawing and contractual specification.
Application Areas
Machinery, pipe supports, fabricated assemblies and plant-maintenance joints.
For oil & gas, pharma, dairy or construction enquiries, specify the actual load, environment, temperature, contact-surface and approval requirements. Sector names alone do not establish suitability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are DIN 125 and ISO 7089 automatically interchangeable?
No. Confirm profile, dimensions, hardness and the required standard edition. A DIN commercial reference alone is not proof of ISO compliance.
What should I include in a plain washer RFQ?
Send inside diameter (id), outside diameter (od), thickness, edge/chamfer form, flatness and required hardness. Also state material grade, finish, quantity, standard edition or drawing revision, application, test/documentation requirements and delivery location.
