Washer geometry, hardness, spring condition or bendability must be specified separately from alloy name. Bolt and nut strength classes are not washer grades. Spring/tooth response requires the specified material condition and geometry.
Technical Selection & Standard Reference
DIN 127 is a withdrawn legacy reference for spring lock washers with square or tang ends. It does not describe disc springs, wave washers or every product sold as a spring washer.
Spring response depends on material condition, geometry and installation. Do not assume that a split washer guarantees resistance to loosening under vibration.
A family reference is not a certificate for a supplied item. Legacy commercial references require agreement on the actual drawing and contractual specification.
Application Areas
Equipment maintenance and specified general-engineering joints; critical or vibration-sensitive joints need a validated locking method.
For oil & gas, pharma, dairy or construction enquiries, specify the actual load, environment, temperature, contact-surface and approval requirements. Sector names alone do not establish suitability.

Does a split spring washer guarantee vibration locking?
No. Specify a locking solution validated for the actual joint, preload and service conditions. Do not rely on the product name alone.

Send id, od, section width/thickness, free height, end form and compressed condition. Also state material grade, finish, quantity, standard edition or drawing revision, application, test/documentation requirements and delivery location.
